Zantho<\/h2>\n

The origin of Zantho began out of a vision. The groundwork was laid by Josef Umathum and Wolfgang Peck who wanted to produce exceptional wines that are regionally based. The\u00a0name Zantho was found in a document from 1487, which refers to the founding of Austrian Andau village. Andau is mentioned as Anthwaw or in Hungarian Zantho. The Pannonian forest lizard on the label of the bottles serves as a symbol of Zantho\u2019s origin.<\/p>\n

Today the winery cultivates over 80 ha of vineyards in Burgenland. The focus lies on sustainable and environmentally friendly working methods as well as wines produced from indigenous grape varieties. The main part of our vineyards is located around the town of Andau yet they are also scattered around the whole region.<\/p>\n

Harvest by hand, strict yield reduction, uncompromising canopy management, no use of herbicides, close to nature, crop protection that is gentle to beneficial organisms are just some of our criteria that needs to be fulfilled to become a Zantho wine.<\/p>\n
