Royere

Royere

The southernmost part of South French wine growing region Rhône, the Luberon, received its own AOC origin designation in 1988. That same year the Hugues family founded Domaine de la Royere, which began very early on developing organic and eco-friendly farming, long before it became mainstream. In addition to the fact that the cultivation is currently entirely organic, Royere also strives to use as few external factors as possible in all other production and, for example, all red wines are now fermented spontaneously with the grapes’ own yeast.

The Luberon is an area of gentle slopes between Avignon and Marseille, whose sand-clay soil provides excellent conditions for wine growing. Royere’s plantations are located at an altitude of 50-300 m and they cultivate traditional varieties of the Rhône region and produce wines corresponding to the well-known style of the region. In addition to wines, Royere grows olives.
